How to apply for your immigration documents
If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, obtaining your immigration documents is an important step to beginning your Quebec college studies. In order to begin classes at Marianopolis, you need to provide us with two documents:
- Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ)
- Canada Study Permit
Here is a short guide to help you through the process.
STEP 1: APPLY FOR YOUR CERTIFICAT D’ACCEPTATION DU QUÉBEC (CAQ)
HOW TO APPLY
- The CAQ is issued by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration du Québec (MIFI)
- Follow their instructions on how to apply online
- Once you have submitted your online application and paid the fees, send a copy of your receipt to admissions@marianopolis.edu
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Letter of acceptance from Marianopolis (available on Omnivox)
- Your passport
- Valid credit card
- Your most recent CAQ (if you already had one)
PROCESSING TIME
- Most CAQ applications are processed within 25 business days
- You can track the progress of your application online
STEP 2: APPLY FOR YOUR CANADA STUDY PERMIT
HOW TO APPLY
- Study permits are issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
- Follow their instructions on how to apply online
- Once you have submitted your online application and paid the fees, send a copy of your acknowledgement letter to admissions@marianopolis.edu
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Proof of acceptance – this is your Confirmation of Attendance letter from Marianopolis (available on Omnivox)
- Provincial attestation letter – this is your Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ)
- Proof of identity
- Proof of financial support
PROCESSING TIME
- Study permit applications can take up to 12 weeks to process.
- Apply immediately after receiving your CAQ to avoid delays.
- You can track the progress of your application online
IMPORTANT
You should begin applying for these documents as soon as you have been accepted to Marianopolis, as it can take up to four (4) months to receive them.
You must provide us with these documents by the first day of the semester – you will not be able to attend classes until you do so. If you are late in providing us these documents, we may defer your admission to the following semester.
If you attended high school in Quebec and have a valid study permit from that time, you can start classes at Marianopolis even if your new study permit has not arrived. You must provide us a copy of your new study permit application receipt along with your CAQ.
