The Government of Canada’s Research Support Fund assists Canadian post-secondary institutions by covering a portion of the indirect costs associated with federally funded research. RSF grants are based on the funding received by researchers at the post-secondary institutions from the three federal research granting agencies: the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

Marianopolis College has benefitted from the support of the RSF since 2017 thanks to the SSHRC-funded research of Prof. Cory McKay. Indirect costs of research fall within the following five categories, as described on the Research Support Fund website: 1) research facilities; 2) research resources; 3) management and administration of the institution’s research enterprise; 4) regulatory requirements and accreditation; 5) intellectual property and knowledge mobilization. In 2023-2024, Marianopolis used the $27,281 RSF grant to support research resources and research facilities at the College’s Library, a central facility accessible to students in all programs of study.
