Music Double DEC Graduate Makes CBC 30 Under 30 List

Violinist and Class of 2013 Music and Science graduate Daniel Dastoor continues to earn recognition and accolades as a chamber musician and soloist.

Earlier this summer he was named one of the most promising classical musicians in Canada in the 2024 edition of the CBC 30 Under 30 List.

This recognition comes less than a year after Daniel’s musical trio, Rilian, won a several awards at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in Norway, including first prize and best performance. In 2023, Daniel also won a Canada Council for the Arts competition, earning him the opportunity to play a 1700 Taft Stradivarius violin on loan from the Council’s Musical Instrument Bank.

After completing his Double DEC in Music and Science at Marianopolis, Daniel pursued music studies at the Glenn Gould School, the Mount Royal Conservatory, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He also earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science from the University of Toronto and the University of Calgary.

Daniel is currently pursuing a graduate diploma at the New England Conservatory in Boston and is set to tour the U.S., Canada, and Europe – including performances with the Rilian trio – between September 2024 and January 2025.
